We are looking for a Senior Tax Associate for our Tampa, FL office. The goal of our Senior Tax Associate is to work closely with other members of the team to complete tasks that support the monthly and quarterly close processes, such as compiling and analyzing information from the business, ensuring the integrity of the tax accounts booked to the general ledger, delivering timely and book to tax adjustments to ensure accurate financial reporting, and driving continuous improvement in our processes. This candidate will gain a knowledge and understanding of several distinct aspects of taxation and will be provided with a good foundation for career development opportunities. To be successful as a Senior Tax Associate, you should have a firm grasp of basic accounting principles and practices. A top-notch Senior Associate should be well-organized, have an aptitude for numbers, and be able to maintain good relationships with our business partners. The department is a fast-paced work environment with numerous non-routine processes where associates must be quick learners, highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting job responsibilities. Our Tax team is technology driven so an associate with innovative mindset who seek process efficiencies is highly desirable. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to learn about taxation of various Investment types and many aspects of accounting and reporting.  

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Participate in the quarterly Tax accounting close process 
  • Preparing various Investment book to tax adjustments  
  • Preparing financial documentation and support for all tax accounts 
  • Prepare tax journal entries and account reconciliations, research, and document differences 
  • Utilize various technologies to prepare tax adjustments (Alteryx, PowerBI, TRC)  
  • Assisting other team members with tax research and projects 
  • Other tasks as needed 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and familiarity with financial statements, including balance sheet and income statements 
  • Knowledge of US GAAP/STAT/Tax income tax provision requirements 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (macros, Vlookups, pivot tables and advanced formulas) 
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn with limited guidance 
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, strong organizational and research skills 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate issues, propose and implement solutions 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a cross functional team 
  • Proactive attitude, commitment to continuous learning, willingness to challenge the status quo to improve processes 
  • Ability to work additional hours during peak times 

Preferred

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and more than one year of related experience, or a Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration (with appropriate Accounting preparation)  
  • Applicable coursework in tax accounting, business, finance, or related field Progress toward CPA or EA  
  • Knowledge of Yardi, PAM, HFM, Cubus, PeopleSoft and Essbase 
  • Familiarity with Alteryx, Power BI, TRC
